കേരളത്തിലെ പൗരാണിക മുസ്ലിം പള്ളികളുടെ ചരിത്രവും പൈതൃകവും ചുരുൾ നിവർത്തുന്ന ഡോക്യുമെന്ററി.
മാലിക് ദീനാറും സംഘവും സ്ഥാപിച്ച പത്തു പള്ളികൾ മുതൽ പഴമയുടെ പ്രൗഢി തുടിച്ചുനിൽക്കുന്നതും നവീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതുമായ എല്ലാ ചരിത്രപ്രധാന മസ്ജിദുകളിലൂടെ, അവയുടെ അകവും പുറവും ഒപ്പിയെടുക്കുന്ന ദൃശ്യസഞ്ചാരമാണിത്. മിനാരങ്ങളും താഴികക്കുടങ്ങളുമില്ലാത്ത കേരള മസ്ജിദുകളുടെ തനതു വാസ്തുശില്പകലയിലെ സവിശേഷതകൾ, മുസ്ലിം സാംസ്കാരിക സ്വത്വരൂപീകരണത്തിൽ പള്ളികൾ വഹിച്ച പങ്ക്, ലിഖിതങ്ങൾ, സയ്യിദ്-സൂഫി സ്വാധീനങ്ങൾ, പള്ളി കേന്ദ്രീകൃത കൊളോണിയൽ വിരുദ്ധ ചെറുത്തുനിൽപുകൾ, ദർസ് സമ്പ്രദായം, പള്ളിക്കാടുകൾ, പള്ളി നവീകരണ പ്രവണതകൾ തുടങ്ങിയ വിവിധ മേഖലകളെ പരിശോധിക്കുന്ന സമഗ്രമായ ഉള്ളടക്കം. നൂറിലേറെ പൗരാണിക മസ്ജിദുകൾ സുദീർഘമായി ചിത്രലേഖനം ചെയ്ത ബൃഹദ് സംരഭം 50 മിനിറ്റ് ദൈർഘ്യമുള്ളതാണ്. എം.നൗഷാദ് സംവിധാനം നിർവ്വഹിച്ച ചിത്രം ഫനാർ എഡ്യൂക്കേഷണൽ റിസർച്ച് ഫൗണ്ടേഷൻ ആണ് നിർമാണം. ഹർഷദിന്റെ പ്രൊജക്റ്റ് ഡിസൈനിൽ മാപ്പിള ഹെറിറ്റേജ് ലൈബ്രറി സഹകരണത്തോടെ പുറത്തിറക്കിയതാണീ ഡോക്യുമെന്ററി.
“Palli Puraanam”
Documentary
A documentary that chronicles the architectural and sociological legacies of Kerala’s ancient Muslim mosques. The traditional mosques of the Malabar coast are distinctive, with the absence of minarets and domes, and reflecting the traditional architectural style of the region. A visual journey capturing the interiors and exteriors of every historically significant masjid in Kerala, starting from the ten mosques established by Malik Dinar and his companions: some of these mosques are preserved in their original form and others have undergone extensive renovation. The film explores a range of themes, including the unique features of mosque architecture, the role mosques played in shaping Muslim cultural identity, inscriptions, Sayyid and Sufi influences, mosque-centered anti-colonial resistance, the dars tradition, mosque graveyards, modernisation and trends in mosque renovation. A large-scale project that extensively documented over a hundred ancient mosques, this work also serves as an archival record and a macro-history of Kerala Muslim life, running for 50 minutes.
