മലയാള മൊഴിമാറ്റം

പ്രേമം തുളുമ്പുമേകാന്തനയനങ്ങൾ
അവയിലാണെന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ആശ്വാസം.
ആർക്കുമറിയില്ല, എന്തിനവ നാണിക്കുന്നതെന്നെക്കാണുമ്പോൾ,
എന്തിനെന്നെയിത്ര യാതനപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു…

ഉള്ളുപറയുന്നു, നിന്റെ ഗാനം പാടാൻ
നീ മാത്രം കേട്ടാൽ മതി, ഞാൻ പാടിക്കൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കാം.
കൂടെ നീയുണ്ടാവുകയാണെങ്കിൽ
ലോകത്തെ വേണ്ടെന്നുവെച്ച്
നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ ആനന്ദിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിൽ മുഴുകാം ഞാൻ…

നിന്റെ രൂപം കണ്ടു പൂക്കൾക്ക് നാണം വന്നു,
പിന്നെങ്ങനെയെന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ രക്ഷിച്ചെടുക്കാൻ?
നീയരികിൽ തന്നെയുണ്ടായിട്ടും
ഞാൻ ഉരുകിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു,
നിനക്കെങ്ങനെയാണിത് മനസ്സിലാക്കിത്തരിക..
മഴയിങ്ങനെ പെയ്തുതീർന്നുകൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കുന്നു..

നിന്നിൽ നിന്നകന്നുപോകല്ലേയെന്ന് ഞാനെപ്പോഴും ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു.
നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടുപോയാൽ പിന്നെ
നിന്നിൽ മടങ്ങിയെത്താനുള്ള വഴി കാണാതായിപ്പോകുമോ..
നിന്റെ പേരെന്റെ ചുണ്ടിലെത്തുമ്പോൾ
ഞാനൊരു കണ്ണീർതുള്ളിയാവുന്ന കാലം വരാതിരിക്കട്ടെ…

खो के तुझे मिलने की राह न पाऊँ
ऐसा न हो जब भी तेरा नाम लबों पर लाऊँ

(This is an occasional translation series of Urdu poems, ghazals, nazms, qawalis etc that are close to my heart; inspired by a good friend asking for the meaning of certain ghazals. While going through these lyrics and soulful rendering, I am humbly reminded of the fact that poetry is quintessentially untranslatable; and the sweetness of Urdu alfaaz, beautiful ambiguity of certain words and phrases, alongside the depth of jazbaat they carry – all these make the task harder and troublesome. As Malayalam language doesn’t have many attempts of getting Urdu poems translated, except for a couple of books of popular Ghazals in translation, I do hope more authentic and scholarly projects come up in future.)
